LAKE Macquarie Christian College recently celebrated its fifth birthday with a full-school chapel service and birthday cake.

The college commenced operating in temporary premises at Westlakes Christian Assembly Church, Toronto, in April, 1998, before moving to its 11hectare site next to Fassifern Railway Station in January, 1999.

The college, which is administered by Christian Education Foundation Ltd, initially started with seven students in a composite Kindergarten Year Three class. This class grew to 12 by the end of the year and was taught by Mrs Foley.

At the beginning of 1999, Mr Feeney and Mrs Akester joined the college as full-time staff of a Kindergarten to Year Seven college on the new premises.

Since those early days, the college has continued to blossom. It currently has an enrolment of 207 students from Kindergarten to Year 10 and is looking forward to moving into Year 11 in 2006.

Staff and students are also looking forward to the completion of a new design and technology building later in the year.
